The Evolution of Diablo Character Classes Through Time

The Diablo game series debuted in 1996, and has become a beloved classic among gamers. Set in the fantasy world of Sanctuary, a haven for war-weary angels and demons, this role-playing action game is known for exciting, fast-paced gameplay set in an intriguing fictional world. The series consists of three core games: Diablo I, Diablo 2, and Diablo 3. Over time, the series has evolved to encompass better graphics, different character classes, and plot developments. The series has stood the test of time despite these changes, remaining one of the most popular video game series of all time.

Diablo 1

Diablo 1 character classes

The original Diablo was an exciting, innovative action game. Released in 1996, it featured graphics that were state of the art for the time. The plot of the game centers around a player character whose goal is to free the town of Tristram from the evil hell-forces that have descended upon it. There were three main character classes:

  • Warriors, powerful close-range fighters with a lot of endurance and Strength as their strongest attribute.
  • Rogues, who use ranged weapons to attack enemies from a distance and have high Dexterity.
  • Sorcerers, who use Magic as a weapon instead of physical skills.

The game begins when the player character arrives in Tristram, where they must make their way through a labyrinth filled with monsters and demons to find and kill the Skeleton King. The innovative gameplay, good graphics, and intriguingly dark fantasy atmosphere has won countless fans over the years. Diablo I remains a classic to this day.

Diablo 2

Diablo 2 Character classes

Diablo II was released in 2000. Although Diablo 1 remains a perennial classic, Diablo 2 is considered by many players to be a superior game. It made numerous changes that distinguish it from its predecessor. The gameplay is divided into four “acts,” in which the character completes both manditory and optional quests. The item system was made more complex, with four quality levels applied to weapons and armor: normal, magical, set, and unique. Another major change between Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 was the difference in character classes. Diablo 2 offers a completely different set of classes than the original Diablo:

  • The Amazon, a female character class with attributes similar to the Rogue from Diablo I.
  • The Necromancer, a magic user who can summon skeletons, golems, dead enemy monsters, and other entities to aid him in battle.
  • The Barbarian, a melee fighter similar to the Warrior from Diablo I who can specialize in different types of weapons.
  • The Sorceress, a female magic user capable of ice, fire, and lightning spells.
  • The Paladin, a member of a sacred order of knights who uses both combat skills and magic skills. He can create defensive and offensive “auras” that affect all party members, and is proficient with a shield.

Diablo 3

Diablo 3 character classes

The highly anticipated Diablo 3 was released in 2012, a full 16 years after the original game. It had been twelve years since Diablo 2, and was quite well received. More similar in gameplay to Diablo 2 than to the original Diablo, it offered five main character classes, most of which were new:

  • The Witch Doctor, a magic user with spell-casting and summoning powers. This character’s powers are based in a stat called “Mana,” which replenishes slowly.
  • The Barbarian, similar to the same class in Diablo 2. He’s equipped with a wide range of physical skills, based in a stat called “Fury.”
  • The Wizard, like Diablo 2’s Sorceress, uses ice, fire, and lightning spells. They’re based in “Arcane Power,” which regenerates more quickly than the Witch Doctor’s Mana.
  • The Monk is a melee fighter who uses martial arts. His attacks are fueled by “Spirit.”
  • The Daemon Hunter is powered by “Hatred,” an attack-oriented resource that replenishes quickly, and “Discipline,” which refills more slowly and is used for his defensive abilities.

The gameplay, character classes, items, and graphics have changed significantly between Diablo 1 and Diablo 3, introducing new elements into the game’s unique fantasy world. Although the second two games in the series differ substantially from the original, all three are widely regarded as classics.

Diablo tattoo

Diablo Skull Tattoos Are Cool

Skull tattoos have always been one of the most popular tattoo designs, and with how common the skull is as a symbol in everyday life, it’s little wonder so many people decide to permanently ink it into their bodies!

Way back in the day, skulls symbolized the things that they were literally associated with– death, disease, decay, and murder. Today, however, many skull tattoos can represent a wide variety of things, with many of them being exactly the opposite of death and decay. This once-negative symbol is now often put in a positive light, and the meanings attributed to skull tattoos are as varied as the tattoos themselves.

The popularity of skull tattoos runs all the way back to the days when tattoos were strictly for sailors, and now that more people are getting inked, this tattoo design is taking off. Depending on the wearer’s beliefs and background (and on the design itself), the meaning can be any one of a number of things. For some people, skulls represent infinity or life after death, because the human skeleton lingers on long after they believe the soul has departed for another destination. For others, a skull tattoo may be a way to symbolize closed doors– someone or something in their life that they have given up and can no longer revisit (in essence, that part of their life has died and cannot return). Other common skull tattoo meanings are survival through hardship, strength, power, or mourning. As with most other symbols, the true meaning of the skull varies based on the design of the tattoo itself— what other symbols are combined with it, how is it placed, how does it look aesthetically, etc.

No discussion of skull artwork would be complete without touching on sugar skulls as a symbol. To people who observe (or admire) the famous Mexican holiday, The Day of the Dead, a sugar skull is closely tied to the central themes of the holiday, which focuses on remembering and celebrating friends or family who have passed away. Since this is a holiday that celebrates the dead, a person with this type of skull tattoo may find it to be a very positive, playful symbol, rather than one of loss and mourning. Popular sugar skull tats are usually brightly colored, and they are often done as a tribute to a specific loved one who has died.

Skulls are often paired with another popular tattoo design: flowers. Depending on the flower and the positioning, meanings vary, because different flowers stand for a variety of different things. Sometimes this juxtaposition represents the contrast between life and death, or if the wearer has chosen to pair the skull with roses, it may be another tribute to a lost loved one.

This particular tattoo symbol was usually associated with men, but in modern times, women are just as likely to get skull tattoos as their male counterparts! It’s becoming very common to see women sporting ‘girly skulls’ on their arms, dolled up with flowers, hearts or ribbons. Because the skull tattoo is so versatile, it can mean almost anything, which makes it an appropriate design for just about anyone. That’s why it’s become so popular!

Batman ownz

Batman is a very popular hero and his popularity has led to plenty of action figures being cast to look like him. There are hundreds and hundreds of these collectibles and each one holds a special place in the minds and hearts of all Batman fans. After all, without these toys we would not be able to relive the wonders of Batman. Here is a look at some very nice Batman accessories.

Mego Batman

This Batman toy that represents one of the first Batman toys to be ever made. It has graced homes across the world for many decades and was very popular till the advent of the DC Direct figures and good quality statues became available. This Batman figure is the only one of its kind to be modeled after Adam West. Even though the likeness is not all that strong, there are many that feel that it does resemble West. Megos are articulated well and even if we judge the figure by present day standards we won’t have much to complain about. The only trouble with the Mego Batman is that the figure is held together by some rather dainty rubber bands, which if they were to snap would cause the entire figure to collapse. However, this toy does have a lot of nostalgic value.

Green Lantern Batman

DC Direct makes the Green Lantern Batman statue toy. The aim of the company was to improve on the popularity of their toy line by adding a Batman figure. Even so, this figure does represent a rather unusual take on the well-known hero called Batman. The costume used on the figure has only once been shown in Green Lantern Number Nine. However, there is no denying the fact that when we see Batman using a Lantern ring the image will live long in the minds of every true Batman fan.

This particular Batman toy is a great work because the sculpting is very sleek and dynamic and it captures the look of Batman perfectly. The only trouble with using this toy is that it has a DC logo on the chest.

DC Superheroes Batman

This Batman toy has been produced by Mattel, which copied the toy business’s formula employed by Marvel Legends and came up with an excellently articulated figure that is sure to adorn the cabinets of collectors of action figures. The figure strikes an excellent balance between looks and articulation. In this, the DC Superheroes Batman is much better than earlier figures. The new and dark paint scheme seems to suit the figure very well. The nice thing about this particular Batman toy is that unlike others, especially the newer Batman figures, this one is sold with a nice assortment of accessories. The only thing that is not nicely done is the head sculpting which is a bit too ugly. However, Mattel has otherwise done a good job with this particular Batman toy.

No matter what kind of Batman toy you are looking for, there are plenty of toys for you to choose from. From Batman figures to Batmobile to Bat Cave, there are a whole lot of toys that you should add to your collection.
